Vers la flamme, op. 72 (1914) Le pianiste Jonathan Benichou qui a suivi des études de piano auprès de grands pédagogues russes et dont la mère à des origines ukrainiennes a choisi un programme du compositeur russe Scriabine pour son premier disque, mais ces réponses aux questions qui lui ont été posées par pianobleu.com à l'occasion de la sortie de ce disque montrent que son choix repose sur nombreux autres critères que celui de la simple nationalité. Ce compositeur se distingue d'ailleurs de ses contemporains de même nationalité : Rachmaninov, Medtner et Prokofiev, par son univers sonore original fruit à la fois de sa pensée musicale et de sa pensée ésotérique indissociables. Le musicologue Boris de Schloezer a distingué trois périodes dans l'évolution de cet univers: la première jusqu'en 1902 regroupe les oeuvres dites "de jeunesse" (op.1 à op.29), dans l'héritage de Chopin et Liszt, la deuxième(de 1903 à 1910) regroupe les op.30 à 59, d'inspiration plus wagnérienne où se marque désormais l'intérêt de Scriabine pour une oeuvre inspirée par des idées littéraires voire philosophiques,enfin lors de la troisième période Scriabine découvrit la théosophie et chercha à donner une dimension spirituelle et métaphysique à son œuvre, se passionnant pour la théorie des correspondances universelles "Tout est dans tout" et plus particulièrement des rapports entre couleurs et sons. Les préoccupations mystico-philosophiques de Scriabine étaient donc bien éloignées de celles de ses confrères. Jonathan Benichou qui a choisit de faire découvrir cet univers original dans un ordre quasi chronologique en offre une interprétation sensible conduisant en fait à faire perdre à son auditeur toute notion de temps.

| |  Miriam Gómez-Morán is a classical pianist, fortepianist and harpsichordist. Her repertoire includes music from the renaissance period until our days. She has recently recorded her first solo CD, released by Verso (Diverdi).
Alan Walker, author of the 3-volume prize-winning biography of Liszt, has said of her: "I was deeply impressed with her Liszt recital. Her performance of the "Weinen, Klagen" Variations was a tour de force, while her interpretation of the formidable "Vallée d'Obermann" was the best that I have ever heard. It was not just a matter of technique, which she possesses in abundance. One was aware that a true artist presided at the keyboard".
Born in Madrid in 1974, Miriam Gómez-Morán started studying piano at the age of eleven at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid. She continued her studies in Budapest at the Liszt Academy of Music under the guidance of F. Rados. She then taught for two years, before studying historical keyboard instruments in Freiburg with R. Hill, graduating with the highest marks possible for harpsichord and fortepiano performance. A prize-winner at competitions in Spain and Germany, she recently took up a professorship at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca, Spain's leading music-pedagogical institution. Miriam Gómez-Morán has performed and recorded extensively both as soloist and in chamber music ensembles in Europe and North America. She is regularly invited to perform in festivals such as "The Great Romantics", "The Liszt Festival" (American Liszt Society), Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Festival de Otoño in Madrid, Tavaszi Hangversenyek (Budapest), etc.

vormen. Hij geloofde in een romantischmystieke taak van de kunst en in combinatie met zijn theosofische oriëntatie leidde dat tot een poging alle kunsten tot een pantheïstische
synthese te verenigen. Om zijn spirituele ideeën te verklanken koos Scriabin voor een groot orkest, weelderige klankkleuren en breed uitgesponnen melodieën. De muziek wordt vaak tekort gedaan door te gaan zwelgen in de laatromantische orkestklank. Dirigent Riccardo Muti geeft in deze opname niet toe aan deze
verleiding en houdt het hoofd koel. Zo is de muzikale architectuur van Scriabins symfonieën goed te doorgronden. Muti's uitgebreide ervaring als operadirigent (aan de Scala van Milaan) is merkbaar in de spannende dramatische opbouw van zijn interpretaties. | |  De afgelopen zomer (2005) overleden pianist Henri Struiwig, trad in 2003 op - toen 61 jaar oud - in de Grote Zaal van het Russische Staats Conservatorium (ook wel Tsjaikovski-conservatorium) te Moskou. He will undoubtedly be remembered as Britain’s most outstanding pianist, and for his heroic struggle against mental illness that threatened to destroy his career.

In the Violin Concerto, for example, a romantic spirit dances through concise baroque forms. The twittering violin melodies and alluringly ambiguous harmony recall the heartfelt early 20th-Century atonality of Alban Berg. The twilight dreams wink at Alexander Scriabin's mysticism. The second half of the program was, um, okay...a selection of Aleksandr Nikolaevich Skrjabin works with only a few standouts (not at the fault of the superb Sokolov, but my own incapacity to really get into Skrjabin).
